Pilots Association and Fulton Flying Service are Pleased to Offer
TWO FLIGHT TRAINING SCHOLARSHIPS
Two flight training scholarships for Callaway County high school juniors
are offered annually at the Elton Hensley Airport, Fulton, Missouri, by
the Kingdom Pilots Association and Travis St. John, FAA licensed flight
instructor and owner of Fulton Flying Service. Each scholarship will provide
a plane with fuel and licensed instructor for 15 hours of instruction. Fifteen
hours of ground and flight instruction should enable the student to solo
and to confirm the extent of his/her interest in general aviation. The scholarship
will include a paid one-year membership in the Kingdom Pilots Association.
TO BE ELIGIBLE, AN APPLICANT MUST:
- Be enrolled in one of Callaway County's 4 public school districts:
Fulton, New Bloomfield, North Callaway, or South Callaway.
- Be a minimum of 16 years of age and registered as a junior.
- Have and maintain an overall grade point average of 3.0 (B).
- Have no history of drug or alcohol abuse and no record of criminal
activity.
- Be on no medication that can impair performance.
- Submit the completed application and all required materials to Travis
St. John, 4420 County Road 304, Fulton, MO 65251.
THE APPLICANT WILL SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS TOGETHER IN ONE PACKET:
- The completed application form.
- A letter of permission signed by parent or guardian.
- An essay entitled "Why I Want to Fly." The essay should be typed, double
spaced, and approximately two pages in length.
- Three references, two of which must be from the high school principal,
a counselor, or current teacher.
- An official high school transcript.
Additionally, the applicant will meet with a Board of Review upon request.
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT MUST:
- Prior to beginning training, pass an FAA Third Class Physical Examination
administed by an FAA approved physician.
- Begin training within 30 days of the award of the scholarship.
